Pick a sample to work with from the browser window.

Right-click on the file, and select 'Open in new sampler channel'.

Switch to Step Sequencer view, and click on the sampler channel you have just created.

Click on Ins tab, and then Vol tab, and enable the volume envelope. See video for how to tweak the settings.

Switch to SMP tab,

Right-click on the file waveform at the bottom of the window, and choose Edit. This will open the sample in Edison, the audio editing plugin.

Make a selection around the word you'd like to create a stuttering effect for, and press Alt-L to set loop points.

Press CTRL-A to select the entire sample. Drag the sample back into the channel settings window.

Switch to Step Sequencer view, and select the track with the sample.

Open the track in the piano roll view.

Draw a C5 note, 8 measures long.

Go back to channel settings for the track.

Set the pitch range to 24 semitones.

Create an automation clip for the Pitch knob.

Draw the line in the automation track, so that the pitch stays at default until you reach the loop region, and than rises in a straight line all the way up towards the end of the track.

Add effects to your liking, using the mixer window.
